I am late for Day 6 at NaPoWriMo but as they say better late than never. It’s also Day 6 at A to Z Blogging Challenge.
The prompt for Day 6 was a variation of an acrostic poem. But rather than spelling out a word with the first letters of each line, we were to write a poem that reproduced a phrase with the first words of each line. I chose We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Here is my attempt inspired by my life in the hills once upon a time, and a nagging desire to return to it. The image is also from one of our treks in the mountains. The formatting needs another look, but later to that.
***
We’ll guard the memories of our love affair in a home
upon which gently falls the shade of an old tree and
Cross over to the hillside, where a young deodar
stretches endlessly and its overhanging branches
That we leapt upon in the dawn of our
companionship will still remember us as we
Bridge over and return from the thundering
highways of our wedded life
When we dreamt of the bright leaves of the
red tree flaming against the sky. Its petals
We will pick as they flutter like butterflies
in the April breeze and
Come home to the whistling thrush, gliding through
the rhodo leaves. In the mountains we’ll retreat
To a quiet corner where wedding bliss holds hands
not with laundry bills.
It will then be a love affair for all seasons.

Many years ago I had tried this format (on my blog), it was fun. A bit challenging though.
