Dear Readers,
As promised, I am back much before my usual time, and the reason is the Global Poetry Writing Month. I’ve worked out some prompts for myself but unfortunately, today’s poem is based on neither of those. It came to me as I sat thinking about my recent holiday where I met a couple from the UK during one of my walks. Sometimes my backyard carries more verve than I can see.
I may not be able to post every day but it’s wonderful to ‘poem’ during April and I’m thrilled to be doing this after many years. See you around.

Hypermetropia
A day after the rain in early March
spring spills in my clamorous city—
a pop of blue in swirling green.
By the magnolia, I meet two travellers
from distant shores,
sniffing its glorious pinks running down
the valley. Enjoying your beautiful country,
they say.
Long after our goodbyes I sit beside
the bursting tree, tuning in to its beauty, learning
to find blossoms in the cracks of my backyard.

How beautifully you’ve captured the moment in these few words! And it’s true we miss the value of what’s beside us until someone points it out. Happy to see you ‘poem’ again!
