Hello Readers
I have outdone myself! I can’t believe I’ve been writing poetry for fifteen days now. I’m a moody poet and this, for me, is a new high. Thanks to the compelling prompts at NaPoWriMo. No, there are no breaks even on Sundays. I’m not trying too hard, simply having fun.
Well, the prompt for Day Fifteen is to write a poem about something you have absolutely no interest in. This isn’t quite the same, I think, as something you’re indifferent to. For example, I have absolutely no interest in investment strategy. Anytime anyone tries to tell me about it, I want to put my fingers in my ears and go “lalalalalala.” My brain tries to shut down! This is honestly kind of funny, and I think this prompt has value precisely because it invites you to investigate some of the “why” behind resolutely not giving two hoots about something.
Here I go!
NOT MY BUSINESS
Use a primer as the base
That’s not the right shape for
your face
Apply the shade in natural light
Focus on the cheekbones under
the eyes
***
Go bold, don’t overload
Smudgy is in trend, it’ll boost
your confidence
That’s too much of a greasy
game
Overdrawn lips look so lame
***
Mac or Lush, wear what you must
Spare me the notes please
Nude or Matte, Smokey or Shimmer
Only adds to my bag of worries
***
So, if you miss the sparkle in my eyes
You’ll probably have to recite it again
Chances are bleak that I should hear
But I’ll get you someone who really cares!
Meanwhile, Yawwwnnnn…

Sonia, this was great fun! Being just a kajal.person, I admire all those who excel at this art. I am happy wielding my pen.

The last line–meanwhile yawn–made me chuckle. All you need is a good night’s sleep–no?
Mac or Lush–another master stroke.
This was such a fun read:)

Loved the way you have had fun with the prompt. At the end of the day, poetry is about having fun too right?
Congratulations on penning poetry for 15 consecutive days…that’s definitely a high & I feel ya!
As with doing make up, I believe it’s an art that I’m bad at….definitely not my business too 😀

I’d say that too.

hahahaha… I laughed… probably more because this is exactly how I feel when someone talks about makeup or suggests something along the lines of your poem. Loved it!

first of all congratulations on writing poetry for 15 days without a break in between!! It is not easy, and yet you have written poems that are funny, sensitive, poignant, sad!
Coming to this, well I am kind of on your side, I would yawn when makeup was being discussed, but sometimes do wish I had the flair , specially when I see how it can build my confidence.

I dont give a hoot about makeup too. I dont even understand what is what. IN my wedding I only used a little bit of LAKME foundation and rest all I applied whatever I have – like simple eyeliner , I mixed two eyeshades to match my dress. It was subtle and everyone asked who the artist was 😛
I hate those centimetre thick makeups
Nice poem and Congrats abt writing everyday poems – NOT EASY

I have zero knowledge about makeup. Other than my kajal and lipsticks I have no other thing. However, I love nail paints. This was such a lovely post.

Oooh. How did you know? That was the business I was involved in yesterday. Went to my first makeup class. I want to look nice for my son’s wedding you see. So now that I got the nitty gritty on how to enhance a mother’s face (mine 🤡) I’ll need to practice for a bit. Thanks for sharing.
It was my business 😃 🤡 👄 👁
Lovely words. XoXo

Love your take on the prompt, Sonia. It sounds exactly like something my older one would say to my younger one, who is a pro at makeup. Very nice!
