We’re heading towards the half-way mark both at NaPoWriMo and the AtoZ Challenge. The challenge on Day Fourteen is a fun one: write a poem that takes the form of the opening scene of the movie of your life. Does it open with a car chase? A musical number? A long scene panning across a verdant plain? You’re the director (and also the producer, the actors, the set designer, the cinematographer, and the lowly assistant that buys doughnuts for the crew) – so it’s all up to you!
I didn’t have to think much for this one. Picked up a chapter from my life. Of course, you’ll have to wait for the entire movie to hit the screens. Tentatively titled, The MOVIE
The cameras roll…
On a mean rainy day a pair of feet
run over glassy tracks, stirring
puddles into a vortex
of dance.
***
Their destination, a crumbling theatre
where plays a percussion over the
roof-top, drowning the muffled
notes of a solitary mic.
***
Drums beat by rickety panes, a storm-cloud hangs
by the skylight. I shake my flattened hair
and strain my eager ear,
‘Our next participant is…’
they announce.
***
The title sequence plays
Starring, Yours Truly

Your poem “The Movie” is a delightful journey through the world of cinema and storytelling. It beautifully captures the magic of movies, where characters come to life, and emotions are felt deeply. Your words paint vivid scenes, and the references to classic films add a nostalgic touch. It’s a reminder of how movies can transport us to different realms and leave a lasting impact on our hearts. 🎥🍿🌟 #Poetry #Movies
